Dr Rajan Nimalanathan – GP Partner

I graduated from Sheffield Medical School in 2013 and then went on to work in various South London hospitals in areas including emergency medicine, paediatrics, elderly medicine and obstetrics and gynaecology. I have a keen Interest in global and population health medicine which cultivated my love for General Practice. Over the years I have undertaken lots of medical work in resource poor countries and fostered links with NGO’s operating in Madagascar where I ran a rural health clinic with my wife. As well as being a GP, I enjoy teaching and training the next generation of medical professionals. I’m excited to join such a fantastic team and look forward to getting to know the local community.

Dr Mai Tran – GP Partner

Dr  Mai Tran qualified from the Royal Free and University College London in 2006.  She has been a GP since 2011 after completing her GP training in the West Midlands (originally a Brummie at heart but sadly accent not as strong anymore).

She has very good experience in a range of hospital specialities such as paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery and emergency medicine. She moved back to London after qualifying as a GP due to family. Then she gained vast experience working as a GP in London and Hertfordshire, in GP practices, out of hours and urgent care settings.

She is currently a GP trainer and has a passion for education and training future GPs, junior doctors and medical students. She hopes to bring this skill set to Summerfield Health Centre.

She is very excited to have joined Summerfield Health Centre, as was touched by how friendly staff were during her visits there and is proud to be part of a fantastic team.  She also loves the community feel that is London Colney.

Sometimes you might find her donning her trainers and running to home visits when weather is good. Outside of work she enjoys baking with her family and bringing the goods into work for everyone to enjoy.

Dr Darku – GP

I graduated from King’s College London in 2007 and then carried at my GP training in an East London scheme. In my training I rotated through a helpful mix of paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics, gynaecology and care of the elderly jobs. I’ve been a GP since 2012 and I have mainly worked in Hertfordshire. I would call myself a true generalist and I’m happy to see all conditions. In my spare time I like to listen to audiobooks and trampoline with my 2 kids. I used to co-run a weekly playgroup on my day off work, now I volunteer once a month at my church’s Sunday crèche. I look forward to furthering my service in the NHS at Summerfield.

Toni Neil – Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Hello! I am Toni Neil and am the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) at the surgery. An ANP is a highly experienced nurse that has undertaken much additional study to enable them to work independently to diagnose, treat and manage acutely unwell patients.

I am able to prescribe medication, order and interpret blood tests and other investigations and can refer patients on to specialist teams if it is necessary. My nursing background covers medical emergency hospital units, sexual and reproductive (contraception) health and respiratory medicine.

I am a contraceptive implant fitter and remover and am offering a monthly Saturday clinic at the surgery for this.

I was born in South Africa and undertook my nurse training in Cape Town many years ago. I have been living in the UK for the past 20 or so years now and have been based in St Albans for the past 15 years. I am a mother to 2 young children and for fun, I love to travel around the world and go camping in the English countryside.
